I was in prayer one day and saw this inner vision of Jesus taking things off my back and putting them on his, as he pulled things off my back I felt lighter, the heaviness I had felt was lifting. However, I noticed he didn't seem to be affected by the weight. The more weight he pulled off my back and put on his didn’t phase him at all. Needless to say, I was curious so, I asked him how the weight did not affect him. What I heard amazed me. I heard “You are subjected to the elemental forces, but I am not. I don’t submit to the elemental forces, they submit to me.”
I understood in my spirit that we are subjected to the elemental forces around us, that is in the flesh. If we stand out in a rain storm we get wet, if we touch fire we get burned, if we run into a wall it hurts. However, Jesus walks on water (Matthew 14:22-33), he walks through fire and doesn’t even smell like smoke (Daniel 3:16-28). Jesus doesn’t have to go through a door to enter a room, he just appears (John 20:19)
Apart from Jesus, we can see that we are subject to these elemental forces but Jesus is not. However, He can even empower us by his spirit to go beyond natural limitations into the supernatural.
When we come to him in prayer and cast our cares on him the weight doesn’t weigh him down because he is not subjected to the circumstance but the circumstance is subjected to him. That is why he can bear our burdens and make it light for us. He can empower us to go beyond our natural ability into his supernatural ability. You can also see his love for us in that he walks through the trials and tribulations with us. He is always near to those who fear him and walk in his ways. We have great and precious promises if we are in Christ.
28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
It reminds me of the hymn “What a friend we have in Jesus”
What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.
So, if you are carrying a load that is too heavy to bear, bring it to Jesus today. If you need to repent, then repent. If you need to make a wrong right, then do it. Ask God to guide you into the path of life everlasting. We have all we need in Jesus. What an amazing friend he is.
